Mountain Cottages & Camping

Three colourful down to earth mountain cottages: Faraway, Orange and Eric’s Place, as well as 8 campsites are all off-grid

(NO Electricity, WiFi or Cell/Mobile phone reception), very private and surrounded by mountains, a clean starry sky at night.

The cottages are equipped with solar geysers and gas back-up for hot water, cooking and refrigeration.All have good mountain spring water on tap.

Faraway Cottage

This is our most remote farm cottage, at the end of a good gravel road with amazing views of renosterveld and protea covered hills. The perfect down to earth, rustic and off grid cottage for one or two couples or a small family. Inside the open fireplace keeps you warm in winter, while outside the bush bathtub invites you to cool off in a truly unique setting.Sleeps 4.

Orange Cottage

A cosy off-grid mountain cottage, slightly elevated, it overlooks Faraway cottage in the distance while easy reached by ordinary cars. This rustic cottage is ideal for one or two couples or a small family. An open fireplace inside adds to the cosiness in winter, while a bathtub outside has hot water and is equally great in summer or winter. Hiking trails start on your doorstep. Sleeps 4.

Eric’s Place

Eric’s Place Named after Jurgen’s late granddad Erich Reschke, who came here in the late 1970’s. Eric’s Place offers spacious self-catering accommodation. The large veranda overlooks the entire

Simonskloof (valley) and is ideal for family gatherings, workshops or just a couple looking for space.  It even has its own herb garden and outside bath tub. Inside fireplaces keep you warm and cosy in winter. Sleeps 6-8.

Camping

8 Down to Earth, private, spacious and off-grid (NO electricity) campsites. Most sites have shade, grass and their own water taps with good Mountain spring water. The sites are spread out around a 300 year old oak tree. Ablutions are eco-friendly compost toilets and hot water showers gas geyser. NOT suitable for standard caravans.

Activities @ Simonskloof

Our on-site activities range from hiking (over 50km of trails), Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Canyoning/Kloofing, Trekking, MTBiking, Swimming and Birding.

Directions: Our turn-off along the R318, half way between N1 and Montagu is well signposted. From there a good gravel road with small Simonskloof signs, every 2km, will lead you to us.

Please drive SLOWLY and with care on the gravel road, nature and our neighbours will appreciate it. After heavy rains the gravel road can be slippery or bumpy. Ordinary Cars will however be fine, no need for a 4×4 or high-rise vehicle.
