Route 62 Mountain Adventures offers guided Rock Climbing Tours, Guided Mountain Biking Tours and Guided Hiking Tours in the Montagu Route 62 area

This month saw the opening of another fine multi-pitch route on Cogmans Buttress – “Cresta del Amici” – which in Italian means “The Friends Ridge”.  An excellent route created by Tony Lourens and Garvin Jacobs.

This is a spectacular grade 16 , 9 pitch, 225 meter route on the far left of Cogmans Buttress.  It weaves it’s way up to the very top of the buttress, complete with a summit book to record your ascent!

July can traditionally be one of the wettest months in the Western Cape, but even if it’s raining in Cape Town, the weather is often dry and sunny in Montagu, so . . . . . . make a plan, come and enjoy the rock in Montagu!

David is an experienced qualified and registered Adventure Tourism Guide. He is an avid rock climber with over 20 years’ experience climbing and hiking in the Western Cape Mountains. He is also a keen mountain biker with good local knowledge of the best routes to ride. All climbing equipment is provided when you book a guided climb and Mountain Bikes and equipment when you book a guided mountain biking tour.

Route 62 Rock Climbing

Montagu is a sport climbers paradise with over 450 bolted sport routes on offer ranging from South African grades 15 to 35 (French 5a to 8C+). Our single pitch routes typically range from 15 meters to 30 meters in length on good quality Cape Sandstone and there are also some spectacular multi-pitch climbs to conquer. Montagu has a high percentage of easier routes on offer that are great for beginner climbers to explore.

Route 62 Mountain Biking

Montagu and the Route 62 area has some great non-technical mountain biking as well as more technical trail riding on offer. Route 62 Mountain Biking will provide the perfect ride to suit your needs. Most rides will range from approximately 2-4 hours and a fair level of fitness is required for the technical routes.

Route 62 Hiking

Montagu and the Route 62 area is blessed with spectacular mountains to hike and explore with beautiful fynbos and some amazing waterfalls. David Webster will lead your group on a hike to suit your needs. Hiking trips range from 2 hours to a full day and will be priced depending on the number of people.
