Protea Farm is situated in the famous KOO vally, 29km from Montagu in the heart of the scenic Route 62. Due to the cold climate and winter snow the valley provides the perfect conditions for producing apples and pears. During this time proteas also flower wild on the mountain. Protea Farm offers something special each season. From the beautiful colours of the orchards during autumn, to icy winter nights snuggling in front of a fireplace, right through to the beautiful blossoms of spring, vibrant summer days of fun such as swimming in the lake, beautiful hiking trails as well as idyllic terrain for mountain biking. In 1985 the farm started its legendary tractor excursions up the Langeberg Mountain.

When you fall in love with the peaceful surroundings of the farm, there are four private cottages that can be rented.The adventurous can take their 4x4s on the mountain trails and fully experience the outdoors.

The tariff for the cottages starts from R700.00 per cottage (cost subject to which one you select)

Pine Tree Cottage – The Romantic Weekend Spot
Placed on the edge of one of the farm dams, this peaceful cottage is perfect for couples looking to spend undisturbed time together.
If you have to, you can bring the kids along; there is sleeping place for up to 3 children in the small loft.
This Cottage is self catering and bedding is supplied for one double bed

Ou Opstal
The newest addition to our relaxing accommodation offering is “Die Ou Opstal”. Situated on a hight of 1000m above sea level. This cottage provides breath taking views over the Koo and Keisie valley. Ideal for 2 adults or small familly of 2 adults and 1 or 2 children.

You will experience breath taking sunrise and sunset moments crowned with the Koo silence at its best.Lovely fully equiped open plan kitchen, living area with indoor fire place will ensure your comfortable stay. The main bedroom have en-suit bathroom with only shower. The loft room are equipped with 2 single beds.

Costs of hiring The Opstal Cottage.

Waterblommetjie
Perched over one of the farm dams, this double size timber cottage is ideal for 1 or 2 families sharing a holiday together. Cottage sleeps a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 children. The cottage is self catering and bedding is supplied for 2 double beds only.

Panorama
This rustic style cottage is perfectly suited for larger families.
With short hiking trails and a wild waterfall close by, it lends itself to that perfect getaway to commune with nature, not to mention the spectacular views of both the Muskadel and Koo Valleys.
The facilities are also great for companies to hold small Indaba’s, in tranquil surroundings allowing focused discussion.
The cottage is a self-catering unit with bedding provided for 1 double bed only.

Populiersbos – Camping
Secluded and private camping with nature at its best. The sound of close-by waterfall will contribute to your relaxed and peaceful experience. Enjoying outdoor bath or shower in nature. Open bedroom (only 3 walls) with double bed and elegant tub, fire place will give you the sense of the most romantic outdoor experience of a lifetime.
Campers wanting to experience nature in a more luxurious way can make use of the open bedroom. This camping site also provide up to 8 additional camping sites, 2 showers (one indoor and one outdoor), 1 bath, 2 toilets. Braai facilities with limited wood provided.
Hiking trails will give you views of this hide-away gorge.

The farm is close to Montagu with it’s wonderful wines and other home-made goodies.
