Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary will be operating as follows over the Easter weekend:
Thursday, 17 April – Open, 10am – 4pm
Friday, 18 April – Closed
Saturday – Sunday, 19 – 20 April – Open, 10am – 4pm
Monday, 21 April – Open, 10am – 4pm
We will be closed on the Tuesday and Wednesday following and open our normal operating hours from the Thursday (24 April), Thursday – Sunday 10am – 4pm.’
Wat doen Eseltjiesrus?
Eseltjiesrus, net buite McGregor, is 16 jaar gelede geregistreer as ʼn welsynsorganisasie en al hulle aktiwiteite en finansies word deur hulle bekwame Raad gemonitor.
Eseltjiesrus bied ʼn permanente tuiste en kundige, liefdevolle versorging vir donkies in nood, hetsy afgetree, verwaarloos of mishandel. Hier kan hulle hul laaste jare geniet met donkie-geselskap, geen stres, skuiling, voldoende voer en versorging tot hulle laaste oomblik.
Eseltjiesrus help ook donkies buite hul grense deur opvoedings-geleenthede aan te bied vir donkie-eienaars, versorgers en diere-welsynswerkers. Daar is ook ‘n hulplyn wat daagliks beskikbaar is by 023 625 1593.
Besoekers is welkom vanaf Donderdae tot Sondae tussen 10h00 en 16h00.

Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary provides a permanent home and loving care to destitute, rescued donkeys. We also assist with the rehabilitation of donkeys and are involved in the training and support of donkey welfare practitioners in our country and around Africa.
Thursdays to Sundays we welcome visitors to the Sanctuary where you can visit with the donkeys with our visitor guides; browse our donkey shop and book displays; enjoy a light meal in our Coffee Shop; Selling beers in our coffee shop famous brands people enjoy, visit the Heritage display of donkey-related farm implements; enjoy Bella’s bench and Adam’s walk and visit the Memorial Cairn to remember a loved one.
Open Thursdays to Sundays 10am to 4pm
Entrance is by donation. We are pet and child friendly. Please keep pets on their leads at all times.
Route Description
Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary is situated just 5kms outside the village of McGregor on the road between Robertson and McGregor on the edge of the Klein Karoo in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. We are 15kms from Robertson. Watch for the direction signs after Tanagra Winery on your right hand side.
