The Avalon Springs Resort can best be described as an oasis at the gateway to the Little Karoo. The Resort is located between two mountain ranges and boasts crystal clear air, away from all pollution. It is strategically positioned on the scenic drive between the Garden Route area and Cape Town.

The approach to Montagu from Ashton, through Cogman’s Kloof, is awesome. It is ideally situated weather-wise – south enough to avoid the heat of the Karoo and north enough to avoid the long, wet Cape winters. It is truly a haven for all seasons. In winter, the days are warm and sunny and rainfall is virtually unknown. In spring, the Resort is transformed into a kaleidoscope of greens and browns, as the adjacent peach and plum trees bloom in their freshness. In October, the bougainvillaea and roses are at their best.

Cogman’s Restaurant

Our family-friendly Cogman’s Restaurant offers a variety of freshly prepared meals at reasonable prices. It is Halaal-friendly in that any pork-based products are prepared and served from a separate kitchen. No alcohol is used in the preparation of our dishes. However, alcoholic beverages are served in the restaurant. All our wines at Cogman’s have been carefully sourced from farms in the vicinity of Montagu within a 50km radius, including Ashton, Bonnievale, Mac Gregor, Montagu, and Robertson.

Breakfast:
Open Mondays to Sundays for breakfast from 7h00 onwards and we have taken the best items of South African, Continental, and traditional English breakfasts and combined them into a Breakfast Buffet that makes it impossible to go hungry. With a wide variety of hot & cold items to choose from, we promise that everyone will find something to their liking. Halaal and Vegetarian Guests are catered for.

Lunch
Lunch is served in the Cogman’s Restaurant 7 days a week from 11h30 with last orders at 16h00. You may choose from our extensive traditional a la carte Menu.

Dinner
Open for a la carte dining Mondays to Sundays from 17h00 onwards with last orders at 22h00. In addition to the a la carte menu our chefs regularly offer specials. You can “make a meal” of a relaxing evening in Cogman’s whilst sampling some of the fine wines our region has to offer.

John Montagu Lounge and Liqueur Bar: This addition to Avalon Springs is fitted out with plush furnishings and stylish décor. It complements Cogman’s Restaurant, allowing guests of the hotel to relax before meals. Here you are also welcome to watch sporting events during the weekends, whilst enjoying one of our tasty bar snack baskets.
