360on62 Mountain View Farm Cottages is an ideal place to escape big-city life, and immerse yourself in nature. With 360-degree views of the majestic Swartberg & Langeberg mountain ranges surrounding us, we promise the most magical sunrises & sunsets, beautiful walking, hiking, running and mountain bike trails, wine-tastings and plenty of activities either on the farm or nearby to keep you entertained during your stay.

The farm has 10 units in total and sleep a maximum of 26 people. All units have their own private wood-fired hot tubs. Different units have different other features, some have indoor bath tubs or showers, some have outdoor bath tubs and showers. Six of our units have air-conditioning and all have magnificent views.  

JAMES’ HONEYMOON COTTAGE

• Other: This cottage is back to back with Fish Eagle, however it is private and faces an area of typical Klein Karoo plain and a mountain backdrop. This plain is the hunting ground of our resident Pale Chanting Goshawks, and they are readily observed from the stoep (patio). 

FISH EAGLE COTTAGE

• Sleeps: 4 people (queen bed in bedroom 1 and king or twin singles in bedroom 2)

 Cottage Features

– WiFi is available at all units and around most common areas (pool etc) 

– A generator offering power to the entire farm ensures that our guests have a much needed break from the country’s electricity crisis during load-shedding hours. 

– All Units are fully equipped with linen (appropriate for the season), towels (shower and hot tub / pool), crockery and cutlery and everything you could need to pursue your culinary desires on a getaway!

– We supply Montagu-made organic shower / bath gel and hand cream, Karoo-roasted coffee beans, tea, sugar, home-made biscuits and/or rusks and if you book on time, we usually provide guests with a loaf of home-steamed pot bread. 

– Every unit has an outside braai (barbecue) with necessary equipment.

– We supply all fire-wood (for indoor, outdoor and hot tub fires) and a starter pack of firelighters to get you going. Also provide candles, bug spray, bug repellent and black refuse bags. 

– Each unit (except Sylvia’s) has an indoor fireplace (for heating only, no cooking) to warm up with for those colder nights. The Farmhouse units all have air-conditioning, as does James’s Honeymoon. 

– Definitely no televisions in units to ensure that you are not distracted from the down-to-earth joys of birdsong, the nocturnal screech of the Barn Owls and calls of the jackals or foxes.  Spotted Eagle Owls and Cape Eagle Owls are our other handsome predators often seen and heard at the cottages. The mellow call of the Spotted Eagle Owl male, and the higher pitched triple answering call of the female, have enchanted many a guest on the farm. 

Communal areas and Facilities

Besides being able to relax in the private space of the various units, we also ensure that couples, families or groups have other shared areas to enjoy and use.  

– a pizza / honesty bar area near the cottages where you can fire up a wood-fired pizza oven (as well as a gas stove / oven if needed for general cooking), grab a few beers, wine, cool drinks, olive oil, olives and whatever jams and chutneys might have been made recently on a self-serve basis. Alternatively, simply relax with friends or family playing one of our supplied board games or darts. There is also an ice machine to ensure your drinks stay chilly! An outdoor braai is also provided. 

– a pizza / honesty bar area at the Farmhouse where you can fire up a wood-fired pizza oven or indoor braai / barbecue. The honesty bar fridge is available to grab a few beers, wine or cool drinks and you will also find olive oil, olives and whatever jams and chutneys might have been made recently on a self-serve basis. Alternatively, simply relax with friends or family playing one of our supplied board games or darts or watch a move or the big game on the big-screen smart tv (you will need to login via your subscription to DSTV, Netflix, Disney etc). There is also an ice machine to ensure your drinks stay chilly! An outdoor braai pit is also available.

Function Venue near Montagu

We offer a lovely function venue on the farm that caters up to 60 people (however we can only sleep a max of 26 people on the farm and if this venue is booked – all accommodation units also need to be booked). The venue offers a bar, equipped kitchen, cold room, toilet facilities as well as crockery, cutlery and other items usually for hire. Please enquire directly for more detail.

Route Description

If you are coming from the Cape Town side:
Drive through the town of Montagu – then from the “end” of Montagu you will cross the Kingna River bridge shortly after exiting the town, drive about 7.8 km to the Rietvlei No. 1 turnoff where you turn left. Drive 600 m on dirt road. Turn left where the road splits (onto tar). First gate on the right is us.

If you are coming from the Barrydale side:
Drive approx 53 km after leaving the small town of Barrydale – then take the SECOND Rietvlei No. 1 turnoff (i.e. you will see a ‘Rietvlei No. 1’ turnoff at around 51 km – ignore that one, take the next one) where you turn right. Drive 600 m on dirt road. Turn left where the road splits (onto tar). First gate on the right is us.
