Welcome to The Pastry Place
We are a husband and wife owned and run business. The Pastry Place is a dream many years in the making and was officially opened on 1 January 2020.
I am Alfred Henry, and, together with my wife, Mandy, we are pleased to be sharing our passion for all things pastry and confectionery with you.
My career in the culinary arts spans over two decades. I started out as a Pastry Chef and worked my way up the “Culinary Ladder” from Pastry Chef to Head Chocolatier to Executive Chef. I’ve worked at some of the top hotels in South Africa; Mount Nelson, Twelve Apostles, and Tsogo Sun Cape Sun to name a few. I was also privileged to be selected twice as a member of the Pastry Squad for the National Olympic Culinary Team.
However, it was during my time as Head Chocolatier at Lindt & Sprungli Cape Town where my passion and desire to work with and create confections was rekindled.
It is now is our space in Montagu that I get to spend my time creating and sharing my expertise and culinary passion with you.
All our pastries and confectionery is made by myself, on site and from scratch. I use only the best flours, real butter and as many locally sourced fresh ingredients as possible.
Tuesday-Friday: 9am – 4pm
Saturday: 9am – 2pm
Public Holidays: 9am – 1pm
