WELCOME TO MONTECO PRIVATE GAME RESERVE “A new jewel has been unearthed in the small Karoo”

Kingsley’s Camp at Mont Eco Game Reserve nestles in a quiet bend of a seasonal river in this 6500 hectare rehabilitated conservation gem. The off-grid Eco lodge embraces the ethos of innovative conservation solutions by harnessing sustainable outcrops, it also features open plains woven through with acacia tree lined riverbeds.

Mont Eco, which lies in the Cape floral kingdom, is located along the Langeberg mountain range in an unspoiled natural area encompassing three significant biomes, namely; Nama Karoo, Succulent Karoo and Fynbos.

With warm temperatures and a healthy dry climate. the small Karoo is a multifaceted jewel with a variety of macro and micro habitats. Experiencing low rainfall of approximately 260mm annually, this and semi desert wilderness getaway has both cool crisp winters and warm hot summers

Through the successful reintroduction of species which previously occurred in this habitat, Mont Eco now boasts the exiting big five, lion. leopard. elephant. rhino and buffalo. as well as iconic Karoo species such as brown hyena. aardvark and aardwolf, eland, orvx, klipspringer and springbok are common while shy species include bat eared fox, porcupine and caracal.

Game Drives

Game drives are conducted twice daily, just after sunrise and again before sunset. Wind your way down on a safari drive looking for the elusive leopard, as your personal ranger looks for signs of activity in the animal tracks. visit Ancient riverbeds as they wind through a fringe of Acasia trees lining themselves up along a wooded wonderland in the shadow of giant cliffs

Getting here

Directions from Cape Town International to Mont Eco Private Game Reserve

  • From the airport climb onto the N1
  • Continue straight towards Worcester +- 109 km
  • Turn right onto Roux Road
  • Continue straight and turn right onto High Street
  • Turn right again onto the R60
  • Continue straight with the R60 into Robertson and through to Ashton
  • Continue straight from Ashton (R62) through Kogmanskloof mountain pass into Montagu (Long Street)
  • Continue straight through Montagu until you exit Montagu
  • As you exit Montagu take the road turning left called Talana Road
  • Approximately 2.5km there will be a gravel road turning left called Ladismith / Touwsrivier (Turn onto this road)
  • Continue on the gravel road until you find a turn off to the right, Driekuilshoogte road / African Game Lodge (Turn onto this road)
  • Continue straight until you reach African Game Lodge on your left-hand side
  • Pass African Game Lodge and continue straight until you find the gate to Mont Eco Private Game Reserve
  • Pass through the security gate (Security will pass on instructions)
  • Pass through another gate about 100m from the main gate
  • Continue straight on the gravel road until you pass 2 more gates
  • Keep on the gravel road straight until you find the sign to the lodge
