I paint with Oils on Cotton-Duck canvasses, which are usually primed with an acrylic background colour. I prefer working on large format cavasses, through which I can express myself more freely, using large sweeping movements, to create a feeling of movement, with expression and intensity.
I love painting faces, wild animals, and even landscapes and still-life. I sign my works with SDG (Soli Deo Gloria) to give honour to God for the talent He’s given me.
I’m continually growing and pushing my own artistic boundaries to improve and I believe this is an on-going process.
I think anyone can do art if they want to, so I love sharing what I have learnt and love teaching art to others.
I was born in Pretoria, grew up on the Rand and lived in Pretoria as an adult. I’ve always wanted to live in the Cape region, on a farm , at a small town.
Now I live on a farm in friendly Montagu. And the inspiration to paint is all around.
Take the R62 from Montagu to Barrydale. About 14km outside of Montagu, turn right at the Leeurivier sign, onto a gravel road.
At first split in the road, keep left.
Pass the red house, then a further 400m, turn right up the driveway to the farm house.
