Breyten Boeke Fees

Breyten Boeke Fees

05 July 2013

Last weekend, Friday 5th July 2013, saw 15 of the country’s literary greats descend upon Montagu to infuse the town with culture!

This was in celebration of Francois Krige centenary and of Breyten’s life and work. The programme included author presentations, book signing, interviews with authors, presentation on Breyten’s work, Bonnievale outing, poetry readings and more!

The MAA had a magnificent exhibition of their works and Hanna Naude contributed with Breyten display, including painting of his poetry!

The Leesunie all contributed to a wonderful gifts for the speakers “goodie bag” – which was made by the GROW project from Montagu Dried Fruit plastic! Montagu Kelder “Breytenbacchus” muscadel was a really super addition to the bag!

The visitors also enjoyed; an Historical and Art walk (including Breyten’s holiday home (with Terence), Ibis Gallery exhibition with muscadel and gluhwein, Poetry readings and Vinyl nights at Burgundy Gherkin, Guano Caves Tractor outing, Krige collection and talk by Blackie Badenhorst at the Museum Gallery, “Jakhalsdans” and “Klein Karoo” movies at DVD mania, and the fest was completed with a stunning “Poetry Picnic” at Die Stal with Danelle de Vries Bernard Kruger and Emaleen Kriel.
