Van Loveren Family Vineyards

Visit Van Loveren Family Vineyards and enjoy food & wine pairings, pod tastings & giant chess at our Tasting Room, Cellar & Garden Tours, Hiking & Mountain Biking, Bird Watching or enjoy a long lazy lunch at Christina’s Bistro; inside the Manor House or in the beautiful, lush garden.

Van Loveren has been in the Retief family since 1937 when Hennie Retief snr acquired the land in Robertson Valley and named it after Christina van Loveren, an ancestor of his young bride, Jean van Zyl. In those years sweet wines and wine for brandy were made.

In the 1970’s when Nico and Wynand had joined Hennie, the winery was modernised and the first dry wines were made - Colombar and Steen (Chenin blanc), soon followed by noble varieties Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay in the early 1980’s.

Visit our tasting room and enjoy an informal tasting at our pod or treat yourself to a relaxed food & wine pairing platter on the deck overlooking the garden. Choose from an array of wine pairings such as chocolate and wine, cheese and wine, Almost Zero de-alcoholised wine and macaroons, kiddies pairing or our Christina Master tasting served in cultivar specific Riedel glasses and more.
