The Pastry Place

The Pastry Place... where our passion for artisanal pastries, confectionary, chocolate creations, and ice cream come together in one unique space.

We are a family owned and run business. The Pastry Place is a dream many years in the making and was officially launched on 1 January 2020.

I am Alfred Henry, and, together with my wife, Mandy, we are pleased to be sharing this passion with you.

My career in the culinary arts spans over two decades. I started out as a Pastry Chef and worked my way up the “Culinary Ladder” from Pastry Chef to Head Chocolatier to Executive Chef. I’ve worked at some of the top hotels in South Africa; Mount Nelson, Twelve Apostles, and Tsogo Sun Cape Sun to name a few.

It was during my time as Head Chocolatier at Lindt & Sprungli Cape Town where my passion and desire to work with and create confections was rekindled.

I was privileged to be selected twice as a member of the Pastry Squad for the National Olympic Culinary Team.

I was also Chairman of the Western Cape Chefs Association where I networked with some of the top culinary industry leaders.

It is now is our newly created space in Montagu that I get to spend my time creating and sharing my expertise and culinary passion with you.
