Church - NG Kerk Montagu

Dutch Reformed Church Montagu Since 1854

John 3:16; 10:10
God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal live.
The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life abundantly.

Nederduitse Gereformeerde - Gemeente Montagu

In October 1854 the presbytery of Swellendam gave permission for a new congregation to be formed in Agter Cogmans Kloof.
Mr. D.S. van der Merwe, who bought the farm Uitvlucht in 1844, sold the first erven in 1851 and donated a site for the erection of a church building. The foundation stone of the new building was laid on 1 November 1858, and the church was consecrated on 21 May 1862. Until then, services were held in a small building, located in Bath Street where the present-day Jordaan flats are situated.
The borders of the congregation include the Koo valley (northwest) and Karoo area above Ouberg Pass (northeast).
We believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and invite you to share with us in His grace, love and peace.
