The tractor trips on Protea Farm have become a legend as a tourist attraction in South Africa since 1985. It features regularly on the itinerary of off shore tourists, especially from the Northern Hemisphere. The trip provides loads of fun for everyone, as well as birds eye views of the Breede River and stunning KOO valleys. After a brief pit stop at the renowned Arangieskop Hut where muscadel and dried fruit is served, typical farmhouse potjiekos delights await the tractor passengers at the end of this enthralling 2½ hour excursion. The tractor trip takes the passengers to the summit of Arangieskop (1500 m above sea level) and back.
Group bookings from 25-50 or from 70-100 can also be handled on any day of the week, except on Sundays.
Because of the availability of multiple tractor trips, even groups of up to 150 tourists can be accommodated on one day.
Pieter Marx of Hotel on Wheels utilises the tractor trip on Protea Farm as the last activity on his itinerary. He believes by ending the tour on a high note, it contributes to a more memorable and successful tour. He considers this event as the highlight of his tour, making it a proudly South African experience of tourism excellence. Come and experience this for yourself!
